From large-scale regional surface sampling surveys to targeted diamond drilling campaigns, participants master core logging, surface sampling techniques, QA/QC protocols, and precise geological data recording. Graduates leave ready to contribute immediately and professionally to exploration teams.

Gain practical, real-world experience by joining an active exploration drilling campaign in southern Africa.
Participants master drill programme design, rig safety audits and supervision, sample recovery techniques and troubleshooting, and how drilling data directly influences discovery success. This course prepares geologists and technicians for confident field leadership in exploration projects.
Note that the Applied Exploration Drilling Training Course is run on an active drill-site and is therefore offered subject to the availability of a suitable site for such training.

This comprehensive course follows the full geochemical exploration workflow, from the fundamental principles of surface chemical processes, mineralogical and geochemical dispersions, pathfinder elements and background values, through survey design, sampling media selection and orientation surveys.
Participants will master sampling procedures and QA/QC protocols, analytical techniques (including sample preparation methods and digests), rigorous assay validation and advanced data processing and interpretation.
